Her mom is impervious to her progressive ways and puts all expectation in Lauras commitment to Edgar (Thiago Fragoso) as a way to rise socially. Edgar is an upstanding man who has examined in Portugal to assume control over the matter of his dad, the shrewdness Senator Bonifácio (Cássio Gabus Mendes).

Destiny unites these two ladies at chapel: Laura is questionable about her future with Edgar, and Isabel floods with satisfaction sitting tight for Zé Maria. Be that as it may, the capoeira player, willing to keep an uncalled for activity of the nearby police, gets engaged with a battle that drives him to jail rather than the raised area. Isabel’s agony conveys her closer to Laura, who is anguished by the up and coming landing of a man of the hour she for all intents and purposes doesn’t have the foggiest idea and does not wish to wed, not realizing Edgar feels a similar way. Taken off alone and with no where to go, Isabel moves with her dad to the unassuming neighborhood Morro da Providência, the first favela of Rio, and is compelled to live with the insidiousness of the desirous Berenice (Sheron Menezzes), who will successfully keep her get-together with Zé Maria. In the interim, Laura and Edgar, fall frantically enamored, in opposition to all desires for an orchestrated marriage. Still debilitated by the possibility of been relinquished, Isabel is lured by the bohemian Albertinho (Rafael Cardoso), Laura’s sibling, who ends up intrigued by Isabel.

In any case, the sentiment is hindered by the imperious Constância. In the wake of leaving correctional facility, Zé Maria discovers Isabel pregnant with Albertinhos tyke and says a final farewell to her. The circumstance compounds when Constância finds the pregnancy. To maintain a strategic distance from outrages, she isolates the tyke from his mom with the assistance of Berenice. Enduring with the alleged passing of her child and Zé Maria’s nonattendance, Isabel chooses to acknowledge the welcome from a well known artist and goes to Paris. Laura is sucker punched when she gets some answers concerning a little girl of Edgar’s from a concise relationship he had in Portugal. She petitions for legal separation and, with the objection to her mom, moves away to maintain a strategic distance from humiliation.

After six years, the two companions come back to Rio. Presently an eminent artist in Paris, Isabel finds that her child is alive, while Laura, a separated from lady, gives herself to instructing. Love holds great astonishments: Zé Maria and Isabel, and Laura and Edgar, understand the challenges have neglected to pulverize their sentiments. Next to each other recounts the tale of two ladies comparatively radical, at a snapshot of incredible political and social changes. With definite scenography of old Rio, affected by the Belle Époque, the telenovela puts distinctive universes next to each other: extravagance and straightforwardness; advancement and bias.
